But whether I put in the port name or leave it blank, the same result occurs: After the "Successful" download of Prolific, no ports are showing up.Įven though no ports are showing up anymore, I still remember the names of the ports since I've been trying this for quite a while. Before "Successfully" downloading Prolific 3.2.0.0, the port would show up and I would type COM2, COM3, or COM4 into CHIRP depending on which USB port I was plugged into on any given attempt. So instead of selecting something, I put in the name of the port as it appears in the Device Manager. I select Baofeng and UV-82, but there's nothing in the Port drop down list. When I open CHIRP, click Radio, then click Download From Radio, the popup that I assume to be the standard popup, pops up. There's no more "Ports" section that appears, but the device manager still goes through a refresh whenever I unplug the cord. However, now the cable doesn't even show up in Device Manager. Upon going to sleep and waking up to continue to try to fix the problem, it seems as if I did manage to download 3.2.0.0, somehow. I got that to download but I don't think it worked, but it managed to create an empty folder called "PL-2303 Vista Driver Installer".įollowing the instructions on step 2, I can get to the point where I should be able to select "Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port Version 3.2.0.0", but it isn't showing up. Tried downloading the software off of this site, as recommended by Baofeng. My laptop does not have a disk drive, so I can't download the driver software off of the disk that it came with. The overall issue is that I can't get CHIRP to recognize my radio. I'll try to make this in a list format because hopefully that will be the best way to make it clear.
